BBVA Banca Privada has been rated the best private banking unit in Spain in the 2011 edition of The Global Private Banking Awards held by The Banker, the Financial Times Group's prestigious magazine specialising in international banking. In last year’s edition, BBVA also won the top prize. This year, the award was accepted by José Garcerán, director of BBVA Banca Privada for Spain and Portugal, who declared: “Our fluent adaptation to the new environment, our ability to innovate, our clear commitment to technology and our desire to offer the best private banking service to our clients, have allowed us, for the second consecutive year, to receive this prize from The Banker. We are extremely pleased and are now even more motivated to continue striving for excellence.”
In its 2011 edition, The Banker magazine's Global Private Banking Awards analysed both the quantitative and the qualitative aspects of entities' private banking units, taking into account the changing business landscape in which this industry and wealth management firms must operate.
These aspects include their capacity to generate a trusted advisory service for their clients, the efficient design of strategies for locating assets, the offering of tailor-made investment solutions that meet the needs of investors, and the ability to manage risk, and to attract and retain clients. All of these characteristics have taken on a heightened importance in the current global economic crisis.
The jury for these prizes was composed of professionals and experts from the private banking industry in North America, Asia, and Europe.
In awarding this prize to BBVA Banca Privada, The Banker also took into account the alignment of interests of the Bank, its advisors and its clients, its capacity to adapt its business model to new regulations and the current financial crisis, its ability to obtain profits that are sustainable over the long term, and its advisory offerings for high wealth clients.
In addition, several other important factors played a role in BBVA Banca Privada receiving this honour for the second year running, including their commitment to technology, and software that centralises the reporting, control, research and operating of both management and advisory services, which allows portfolios to be managed in an individual and personalised manner.
