Trade Finance has chosen BBVA as best regional trade-finance bank in Latin America in 2005. This recognition was part of the Awards for Excellence that the magazine announces each year. The choices are based on a survey that is unique for its format and specialisation.

This is the second year it awards regional prizes.

According to Dealogic, BBVA is the world leader in this activity by number of operations. It has a 21% market share – more than banks such as ABN, Citi or Deutsche – and is fourth by volume. Last year it maintained clear leadership in the Latin-American and Asian markets, where it was also leader by number of operations.

Trade Finance Magazine is published by the Euromoney group. It specialises in trade matters and the related finance. The focus is clearly on emerging markets. It pays special attention to raw materials, and marketing and finance of imports and exports.
