- BBVA, having pioneered with the launch of its IPTV platform, is once again ahead of the curve, setting itself apart from its competitors
BBVA has just launched an online corporate press room (http://press.bbva.com) which integrates all the Bank’s communications channels and its IPTV service into a single multimedia (text, image, audio and video) information portal. The overriding goal is to facilitate journalists’ access to Group information via a direct and easy-to-use platform, and to open up new communications channels on the net.
BBVA, having been the first financial entity in Europe to launch an IPTV channel, is pioneering on the communications front once again, setting itself apart from its competitors: this time it is overhauling its corporate communications by using the internet more efficiently in its dealings with the media, enabling them to benefit from the latest developments in technology.
This goal is for this upgraded journalist service to become a global benchmark, and become an alternative, transparent and innovative interactive channel that serves to strengthen the relationship between BBVA and the media. It marks a first step in adding web functionality such as forums, online interviews, chats and other cutting-edge applications emerging in the ever-changing world of the internet.
The new webpage enables journalists to find whatever information they need to follow news and events at BBVA at a mere glance: the schedule of Group events, BBVA’s daily share price performance, key financial highlights and direct links to the Group’s main webpages. In addition, a powerful search engine will help journalists to locate any information archived in the press room.
The press room leverages the benefits of the web 2.0 providing journalists with an RSS feed service, so that they are immediately informed of the latest news and features added to the webpage.
There is room in the new press room for everything current at the Group in audiovisual format: from IPTV for the press, which combines the benefits of traditional television with the possibilities afforded by the net, to the multimedia zone, where users can download pictures, videos and audio archives.
Not forgetting the traditional sections for press releases, which is updated in real time, and corporate information, which has been fleshed out with new sections, such as presentations, awards and acknowledgements and sponsorships. There are also tools of interest to financial journalists such as translation tools, online dictionaries and currency converters.
The technological architecture of the new press room enables editors to upload new content and features tailored to evolving news requirements.
In sum, BBVA’s interactive, multimedia press room is an innovative communications tool which, thanks to its design and content, facilitates easy, immediate, nimble access to the information that journalists are looking for. The press room opens up a two-way permanent communications channel with these professionals in the “Contact us” section.
