Alberte González Patiño, new director of Global Corporate Communications

Alberte González Patiño has been appointed the new director of BBVA’s Global Corporate Communications department. In his new post, he will manage the group’s internal and external communications as well as communications for other business areas.
The new director will rejoin BBVA, where he worked from 2001 to 2006 as director of International Communications. Previously he headed the Communications Department at Terra Networks, following which he worked at banco Uno-e, a BBVA Group company.
Alberte González Patiño has a degree in journalism and completed the IESE Corporate Management Programme. In addition, he received a Fulbright grant to study economics at the New School for Social Research in New York.
His career started at El Faro de Vigo newspaper and since then his professional experience has remained linked to journalism and communication, always with a highly international perspective, thanks to his years of experience in the United States and Latin America.
In fact, after working in New York as a correspondent for La Gaceta de los Negocios, he worked as the financial correspondent for the Efe agency, as editor-in-chief of the Wall Street Journal for Latin America, and executive editor of the magazine, América Economía.
Married with three children, Alberte González Patiño has been director of Communications at Ono for the last three years.
As the director of BBVA’s Global Corporate Communications department, Alberte González Patiño will report to Gregorio Panadero, director of Communications and Branding for the Group.
