Spanish Professional Soccer League
BBVA and the LFP (the Spanish professional soccer league) have signed a strategic agreement to sponsor Spanish soccer worldwide. According to the agreement, the first division is known as the Liga BBVA, while the second division is known as the Liga Adelante. The agreement runs for three seasons (2008-2011) and entails an investment of �60mn by the bank.
Ruta Quetzal BBVA
The Ruta Quetzal BBVA is an educational-cultural program which the bank has sponsored since 1993. Every year this scheme allows young people from over 50 countries to gain an understanding of the human, geographic and historical dimensions of ancient pre-Colombian and Mediterranean civilizations. This is an extraordinary adventure which shares many of the BBVA Group�s values: solidarity, effort, talent, respect for biodiversity and other cultures, international cooperation and ethical behavior.
Prado Museum
BBVA has been a benefactor of the Prado Museum since 2003 with its pledge to support its �Major Exhibitions Program�. Thanks to this agreement the public have been treated to the following exhibitions: Vermeer and the Dutch Interior, the Spanish Portrait: from El Greco to Picasso, The 19th Century at the Prado, Rembrandt. History Painter, and the current The Sleeping Beauty. Victorian painting from The Museo de Arte Ponce of Puerto Rico.
Joan Miró Foundation, Barcelona
In 1989 BBVA signed a collaboration agreement with the Joan Miró Foundation of Barcelona which is renewed annually. Under the terms of the agreement the bank is an institutional sponsor, committed to sponsoring one exhibition a year. The most recent exhibition was American Modern. Works from the Corcoran Gallery of Art of Washington.
Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao
BBVA became a patron of the Museum�s Foundation in 1997 upon its inauguration. Since then it has pledged to sponsor one major exhibition a year, starting with China. 5,000 years and the most recent Surreal Things. Visitors can currently see Cai Quo Quiang. I want to believe, a retrospective of one of the best Chinese artists of our time
Albéniz Foundation and the Queen Sofía School of Music
BBVA�s collaboration with the Albéniz Foundation and the Queen Sofía School of Music dates from 1995. It has also sponsored the BBVA Viola Chair since the 2000-2001 academic year, which is directed by Diemut Poppen with Zubin Mehta as advisor. Through BBVA�s commitment to this foundation and renowned music academy we are supporting musical training and access to musical culture in Spain.
Fundéu BBVA
The Fundéu BBVA was set up in 2005 by the Efe new agency and BBVA. Since its beginnings the foundation has aimed to promote the correct usage of the Spanish language in the media, an initiative which is backed by the Spanish Royal Academy, the autonomous region of La Rioja, the Instituto Cervantes, various universities and the state broadcaster, RTVE, among others. It also collaborates with other academies in Spanish-speaking countries.
